Scientific activities

The training of telecommunications professionals in Győr started in 1976 at the KTMF with training electrical engineers at the production engineer level. At that time, our students belonged to the Department of Wired and Department of Wireless Telecommunications based on their lines of studies. In 1994 the two departments were joined under the name of Department of Telecommunications and there were three areas of studies available: radio systems, telecommunications systems and telecommunications informatics. Since 1995 we have been updating a laboratory year by year. So we are training the electrical engineers of the future with the help of a European standard laboratory. Since 2005 there has been a three and a half year BSc and from 2008, a four-semester long MSc degree. The department takes part in the training of nearly 500 electrical engineering students on full-time and correspondent courses as well. Besides the lectures and laboratory trainings the everyday work is characterized by scientific research, international standard publications and R&D projects. Our department has always actively participated in creating and developing the domestic radio and TV broadcasting. It also supported the digitalization of exchanges, mobile, terrestrial, satellite and cable services. Nowadays it is also takes part in placing the telecommunications on IP bases and mobilizing communications without constraints.
